The JUNIOR class travels to Harlan, Kentucky. We partner with Catholic Mission Trips, Inc. based in Dallas. See the attached document for more information on the itinerary and price.
Housing in Harlan, KY will be at a local church or volunteer center. Participants should plan on bringing sleeping bags. Air mattresses are welcome. Guys and girls will have separate sleeping areas. The Catholic Mission Trip, Inc., staff will sleep separately from the group at all times. Check with your site coordinator on further housing details.
Meals will be provided starting Sunday evening when you arrive, until you depart the following Saturday. The only meals that are not included are your free day meals. Breakfasts are generally continental and we pack a sack lunch. Dinners are always hot. Let us know if there are any dietary restrictions or allergies.
Work projects in Harlan, KY, are geared toward home renovations for the poor and elderly. Projects can include framing, roofing, siding, sheetrock, flooring, insulation, painting, and landscape work. Let us know the skill level of the teens and chaperones.
FREE DAY OPTION
Each group has the option to use one of their days as a free day. Most groups plan on taking Friday as their free day. There is a beautiful lake nearby, as well as hiking options.
Pray for good weather. If we get rain, it’s possible that the outdoor projects will be cancelled for the day. Catholic Mission Trips, Inc., will try to arrange both outdoor and indoor projects for each group.
