Girls Golf in the News

Aquinas (girl's golf) makes it six in a row
Saint Thomas Aquinas insists that it wasn’t chalking up a sixth straight Kansas 5A girls golf state championship before teeing off Monday at Emporia Municipal Golf Course, but the rest of the field knew the deck was stacked in the Saints’ favor.

Led by senior Jordan Chael, who fired a 2-over par 74 to claim Aquinas’ sixth consecutive individual gold as well, the rest of the field was right to feel overmatched.

When Baile Winslow finally put it all together, she clobbered the field at the Kansas Class 5A state golf tournament.

Winslow, a junior at Saint Thomas Aquinas, had come close to breaking through with a tournament victory several times over the course of the season, but everything didn’t come together until Oct. 17 at Smoky Hill Country Club in Hays, Kan.
