<< BackSaints Tidbits - Week of March 30
1. Construction of the New Playing Surface in the Athletic Stadium at Saint Thomas Aquinas is nearly complete! Engineering and site planning began last November, and the unusually mild Kansas winter has contributed to the project to be at a month ahead of schedule.
Visitor seating will be installed during the summer, and the new field will be dedicated as part of the 25th Year kickoff celebration on Friday evening, August 31, 2012, before the Saints' football home-opener vs. Blue Valley Tigers.
2. Spring Break Mission Trips 2012 -- Nearly 100 students from Saint Thomas Aquinas High School spent their spring break serving others. In faith-filled service, 52 juniors volunteered to work in Brownsville, Texas, 40 sophomores in Birmingham, Alabama and 18 freshmen in Joplin, Missouri. In addition, thirty-six seniors went on a pilgrimage to Rome.
3. Amanda Gress, '11, and member of the University of Kansas Debate Team, won the National Junior Division Debate Tournament for students in their first two years of college competition hosted at Johnson County Community College, March 10-12. Amanda and her teammate went 11-0 at the tournament and won all 20 judges' ballots to capture the junior division national championship. Amanda also was selected individual top speaker among 200 competitors! Amanda was a member of the 2011 5A State Champion Debate team during her senior year at Saint Thomas Aquinas.
God Bless the Saints!
