Volunteer Opportunities

Sign up to volunteer!

We need you and your energy, creativity, enthusiasm, time, involvement! At Saint Thomas Aquinas, there are numerous ways to meet other parents and form friendships, keep up with your student’s activities and in some cases work along with him or her through volunteer opportunities with the Parent Guild, Advancement Office, Mothers Club and other Special Projects.

Please take a moment to consider your interest, talents and time and how they would benefit the Saint Thomas Aquinas school community. Non-academic activities are important contributors to a student’s life. We want you to be there with us as positive role models of service in action.

Sign up today to volunteer. Your student(s) and faculty need and appreciate your time and talent! Volunteering provides a great atmosphere to meet other parents. Committee chairs or a Saint Thomas Aquinas staff member will contact you as the events approach.

NHS Christmas Project
Each Christmas, the National Honor Society coordinates the STA adopt-a-family project. Last year, STA students and staff provided Christmas gifts for over 50 different families.  For many of these families, this is the only Christmas they will receive. This project is coordinated through STA Seminar Period and there are a couple of different ways that parent volunteers make this project run more smoothly.

“Seminar Moms” (or Dads):
We need approximately 50 different parents to volunteer to partner with seminar groups. These parents should be able to come up to school over several dates in late November and early December during seminar (10-11 a.m.), work with their group, collect the gifts brought in and take the gifts home with them. This eliminates any concern for the storage and security of the items. The Seminar Parent would also need to help keep track of what has been purchased for the family and what still needs to be done. We will need all gifts delivered back to the school on a designated date. We could use someone to help coordinate and communicate with the other Seminar parents.

Wrapping Party Helpers:
On the designated date, seniors will wrap all of the gifts purchased as a class service project. This will take place during seminar. We need parents to help with the wrapping, labeling and bagging of the gifts. We’ll have lots of teenagers there, but it always helps to have some adults there as well. We could use someone to help coordinate with the other wrapping helpers.

Gift Delivery:
The gifts need to be delivered a few days after the wrapping party. We will need lots of drivers with vans or trucks to drive a load to Wyandotte County. In the past, we have worked with between 1-5 different elementary schools, and we deliver bags of gifts to the school each family is connected with. We could use someone to help coordinate this aspect of the project.

Parent Class Leaders/Volunteers
Parents are needed to provide lunch and/or desserts for each of the class retreats. There are other opportunities to assist the faculty and staff for individual class events (i.e. Project Graduation, yearbook signing party for graduated class, class homecoming activities)

Thank you for your consideration of these volunteer opportunities. We hope that you will find an area or two in which you would like to make an impact on the future of Saint Thomas Aquinas High School.
