Alumni Spotlight - Lindsey (Ruzick) Ford '01

"Oh when the saints go marching in, When the saints go marching in..”. Today we begin a series of posts in which we recognize our alumni - in particular those Saints who ‘march’ as mentors, speakers and career advisors to our current students. We thank you for your continued support and commitment to our Saint Thomas Aquinas community!

Lindsey (Ruzick) Ford ‘01 works as a Men's Custom Clothing Stylist for J.Hilburn. It’s not a ‘typical’ career choice and as a guest speaker her message to Saint Thomas Aquinas students centers on the many different creative career paths available to them. “The last time I spoke to Saint Thomas Aquinas students, I connected with one student in particular who sounded like an exact version of my younger self. She was very excited that I was able to shed some light on this line of work and I felt so blessed to touch her life in that moment. I know I was the light she needed at that time to stick to her intuition about her skills as a ‘creative’. We emailed several times after the presentation.”

Two years ago, Lindsey introduced teachers and students to a website called www.16personalities.com. It is a free personality tool that helps students discover themselves and potential career paths that inspire them. Many Saint Thomas Aquinas teachers continue to use it with their students. Thank you Lindsey!

Lindsey’s words of wisdom for students: “You must first love yourself to be happy and successful at any career, all relationships and in life in general. God gave you your personality, talents, and life for a reason. Make what you have shine and everything else will fall into place.”

If you’re an Saint Thomas Aquinas alum and are interested in being a mentor or guest speaker, email Amber Krumbholz Schreiber, '98, Advancement Officer-Alumni Relations, at aschreiber@stasaints.net or call 913.319.2443, there’s always room for more...“Oh Lord I want to be in that number, When the saints go marching in…”.
