Caitlin is a Tax Accountant/Manager with Grant Thornton LLP. She mostly works with C Corporations, advising them on tax matters and assisting with their income tax compliance. While it’s not quite the tentalating conversation to have with high school students, the times she’s spoken to seniors about their personal taxes, she’s always been impressed by their genuine interest and respect they show her. “They find ways to connect with me - whether that be through sharing that their parents are accountants or asking about my time at Aquinas. I'm always impressed by the caliber of students I interact with!”
When asked why she chooses to speak to Aquinas students she said, “Everyone has their own path in life, but I love to share my experience in the hopes that students can learn from my failures as well as from my successes. High school students have so much ahead of them, so much optimism about the future, that it's infectious! I always leave my time at Aquinas full of energy!”
Caitlin believes that having Saint Thomas Aquinas Alumni involved as speakers and mentors to current students offers many benefits: “We are shaped by our experiences and those around us, and when those things are homogenous, it can be more challenging to see things from a different point of view. By having alumni involved, we can hopefully add more diverse experiences to shape even more well-rounded individuals.”
Caitlin’s words of wisdom for students: “Plan for the future, but don't live in the future. Make the most of each day!.”
