From Fr. Nicholas:
I was born in Rochester, NY, as the seventh of nine children. I moved around several times growing up, living in Michigan, Kansas and finishing out my high school years in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Having graduated from Mars Area High School in Pennsylvania, I am mostly a product of the public school system, but I did attend Catholic school in Olpe, Kansas fourth to sixth grade.

While in high school, I was involved in choir, band, and theatre. During my high school years, I was also very involved in my local Catholic parish, participating in the youth group, serving Mass, and many service opportunities.

Immediately after high school, I attended Conception Seminary College for four years and received a Bachelor’s in philosophy. I then attended Kenrick School of Theology in St. Louis for another four years where I received a Master of Divinity (M.Div), a Master of Arts in Theology (MaTh), and a Baccelaureate in Sacred Theology (STB). My master’s thesis was entitled “Boredom and the Contemporary Preacher.” My parishioners can judge whether I took my own medicine!

I was ordained a Priest in May of 2019 and have been working as the Parochial Vicar for Good Shepherd Parish in Shawnee, Kansas for two years. There, I minister to both the English and the Spanish speaking parishioners. I have also been functioning as the youth minister for the parish for the last year.

My passions/hobbies are mostly academic. I love to read, and am constantly imbibing some new book on philosophy, Thomistic theology, or just good literature. I love language and have a reading and basic speaking capacity in Latin; I am currently taking classes in spoken Latin and am working to have a writing capacity. I am also fluent in Spanish and will be taking French lessons this summer. All that being said, I love a good movie and enjoy getting out with my students and friends to play volleyball, basketball, and especially ultimate frisbee.
