Senior Spotlight | Sean Brough, on friendship, family & service

As Thanksgiving nears, we reflect upon the people and things for which we are grateful. We recently asked Saint Thomas Aquinas senior Sean Brough to share with us a little bit about himself and the activities he is involved in at Aquinas. This is one Saint who is thankful for his Saints family and has a heart for service.
“I am involved in Football where I am the starting right guard. Although our season has ended I am honored to have been a part of this brotherhood and will always remember the memories that I have created with my teammates and coaches. I also play Rugby where I am the starting lock. I am honored to be accepted into this brotherhood and couldn’t imagine a better group of guys to be with. Both my Football and my Rugby teammates are truly my family

I am a member of the Chamber Choir, which is a slightly more advanced choir at Aquinas. It is inspiring to be around people with incredible voices as those in this choir. Being around these people truly amazes me every day. I am also a part of the Show Choir where I am a dance captain which means that I help our director lead our group. We are about to begin our season and I look forward to competing against other schools. The Choir is also my family.

I enjoy doing service in my community and have been involved with many service projects such as playing pickleball with children with disabilities at Chicken & Pickle, volunteering at “Guns & Hoses” which is a celebration for the fallen police and firefighters in our area, and most recently, working the Knights of Columbus 100th anniversary.
I also recently served as a Senior Envoy at Extravaganza and enjoyed getting to see all the parents come out to support our school. Extravaganza is our school’s annual fundraiser that benefits the students’ activities. Because of the generosity of our parents and community, I have enjoyed competing in Football, Rugby, Choir and developing my talents beyond the classroom.
In the future, I hope to pursue my dream of being a mechanical engineer. I really don’t know which university I will attend or even where I will be getting my degree. However, I know I will be well prepared academically because of the many honors classes I have taken and the teachers who have encouraged me to strive for more both in academics and in my personal life.
