We are pleased to announce that Mila Ellsworth (’97 Saint Thomas Aquinas alum) will be our new Head Coach for our Saints Softball team. Jessica Teddy (’99 Saint Thomas Aquinas alum) will be joining as the Varsity Softball Assistant.
Coach Chris Orel recently resigned as the Saints Softball Coach. She finished her 16th year stint with a 282-81 record and led our team to its 2nd State Championship in 2008. Coach Orel, thank you for your many years of service and dedication to the Saints Softball Program.
Mila Ellsworth, owner and founder of Strictly Softball, has over 20 year of experience instructing pitchers. She works with beginners as well as Top 25 Division I pitchers.
Mila has coached numerous pitchers to the collegiate level. She has coached the Kansas State Championship pitcher the last 15 out of 17 years, 3 Gatorade Players of the Year, and has consulted for the University of Missouri, Kansas City, University of Northern Colorado, University of Arkansas at Monticello and Park University.
Prior to starting Strictly Softball, Mila pitched in the Netherlands for Onze Gezlen, in the Royal Dutch League. There she pitched with and against players from The Netherlands National Team.
She graduated from Florida International University with a B.S. in Business Marketing and International Business. Her collegiate career began at Georgia State University where she earned TAAC All-Conference honors. Upon transfer to FIU she set several pitching records: Career Strike Outs, Career Shutouts, and Most Consecutive Shutout Innings. Mila led the Golden Panthers to Top 25 rankings. She was a two-time captain who earned Sun-Belt All-Conference Honors.
Mila is an Olathe, Kansas native. She attended Saint Thomas Aquinas High School where she was a 4-time letterman and led the Saints to their first state title. She still holds numerous pitching season and career records; most wins, strikeouts, shutouts, ERA and more. Mila pitched competitive ball for the nationally recognized Dan Eakin KC Peppers. Mila is happily married to Danny Ellsworth (’97 alumni) and they have three children, Keyle, Peylan, and Boston. She and her family are members of Holy Trinity Parish.
Welcome Coaches Ellsworth and Teddy!
