Alpha Jump

Saint Thomas Aquinas has Teamed up with AlphaJump
Saint Thomas Aquinas High School has purchased exclusive rights to an entrepreneurship program for middle schoolers called AlphaJump. Through AlphaJump, students have the chance to learn a dynamic curriculum, dream up their own business ideas, create a presentation, and present to an audience. No other school or district in the state of Kansas has this program and your students would be among the first to experience this cutting-edge curriculum.

How it Works
When your school signs on to AlphaJump, there are only three requirements:

  1. Use the curriculum provided on the AlphaJump website that was created for Saint Thomas Aquinas. http://kc.alphajump.org/
  2. Host a ‘business pitch’ competition at your grade school. This mini “Shark Tank” can take any form - from a ‘grand’ event to class presentations.

  3. Send the winning team to the regional “Shark Tank” competition at Saint Thomas Aquinas in the Spring.

With AlphaJump, each school can choose to use the program in any way that suits the needs of its students. Here are some common examples:
  • Start an entrepreneur club and meet once per week
  • Use the lessons once per week in a STEM class
  • Use the content as a concentrated unit over a few weeks
  • Start a school club with blended at-home learning

About AlphaJump
AlphaJump was founded in 2015 by Dan Hess, a long-time teacher at Cleveland Saint Ignatius. Since then, over 26 public and private middle schools have used the AlphaJump curriculum. AlphaJump now has over 60 videos, lessons, and projects that teach entrepreneurship, STEM, innovation, and personal finance.

Since the fall of 2019, fifteen premier, private high schools have adopted the program; using it as a summer camp, after school program and learning consortium.

Through AlphaJump, students have the chance to learn a dynamic curriculum, dream up their own business ideas, create a presentation, and present to an audience. No other school or district in the state of Kansas has this program and your students would be among the first to experience this cutting-edge curriculum. The competition is the final component of the program which will be held in the Spring of 2022.

Saints Who Were Entrepreneurs
At the heart of this program is the formation of the whole student - one who is open to growth, inquisitive and aware of their surroundings and others, who is religious, loving and committed to justice through service. These saints are known for their ability to seek out and develop solutions to problems that served their community and the greater good.

St. Maximilian - the patron saint of ‘startups’ and entrepreneurs. Some of the many startups accredited to him include, a newspaper, a radio station and a new convent on the outskirts of Nagaski.

St. Homobonus - the patron saint of business people. He successfully ran an effective trade business.

Testimonies about AlphaJump
The students loved the competitive nature of the program and really enjoyed putting their business plans into action. AlphaJump prepared the students for all aspects of business…including the presentation skills, research, and sound financial projections.
~Mike Wisnor, President, Incarnate Word Academy, Cleveland, Ohio

Alpha Jump created an atmosphere of creativity and excitement in my classroom. Students learned how to organize, refine, and present their ideas to important members of our parish. They learned how to commercialize their STEM innovations and had fun doing it!
~Gloria, STEM Teacher, Mentor, Ohio

I just wanted to say that this was one of the highlights of my career. Beneficial, innovative, creative, well worth our time. MONICA – TEACHER – PARMA, OHIO

I never dreamed that my daughter would have a chance to participate in a business program before she got to high school. She blossomed in this program, and I couldn’t be more proud that she had the guts to get up and pitch in front of a big audience. It was a great boost for her confidence. SAM – PARENT – CUYAHOGA FALLS, OHIO
