Chaplain Services

Saint Thomas Aquinas is an inter-parochial high school and is supported by the Catholic parishes in Johnson County. The Archbishop assigns a priest chaplain to Saint Thomas Aquinas. The chaplain represents the pastors of the region in the high school. He works with administrators, faculty, staff and students to help insure that the spiritual mission of the school is achieved.

The chaplain works closely with teachers who oversee traditional components of campus ministry. He works with theology teachers in presenting material to students in accord with the archdiocesan theology curriculum. The chaplain presides at most of the school liturgies and is a resource to liturgy planners at the school. He also provides pastoral counseling to students, as well as to faculty and staff. The chaplain assists on class retreats and Kairos retreats.

He maintains a ministry of presence, supporting vocation promotion and the Catholic identity of the school. He is here on most Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. He celebrates Mass in the chapel according to the schedule posted near the chapel door. He is most often available for reconciliation or counseling during the seminar periods.
