A Letter from President Schenck
Dear Students and Parents,
The Saints’ spirit is alive! You can just feel it, and it’s been quite impressive. Thank you to our seniors who have demonstrated true devotion during our first All-School Mass and tremendous spirit at games. It has been infectious in our community. It has also been good to meet and talk to so many of you at the gift-gathering parties. Thank you for your support of Saint Thomas Aquinas.
We are focusing on several aspects of communication this year. One deals with the organization and production of our social media. Hopefully, you have noticed increased content on Facebook and Instagram. We are incorporating a new Twitter account from the Student Life Office (@GoAquinasSaints) to help inform and promote many of our activities after the bell. Additionally, we will also be launching a school app which will provide quick access to information that parents and students may use regularly. More details will be provided when the app launches. Finally, each Thursday around Noon, we will be sending a weekly email. Our goal is to consolidate messages to the whole school (grades 9-12) from the Advancement Office, the Administration Office, and the Student Life Office into one email. We hope this will scale down the amount of emails in your inbox.
The outside appearance of our school has been an issue. We had many ash trees removed because of the Emerald Ash Borer. The sophomore parking lot looks a little less haunted now. Our Student Council and Environment Club worked to get things looking spiffy for the start of school. We are also working with the Parent Guild to set up some volunteer “beautify” days. I believe the first one will be Saturday, October 9. More details to come. This will also be a service hour opportunity for students. Please continue to pick up after yourself on campus as we make plans to improve our appearance.
This year we will be increasing the opportunity for students to experience Adoration. Adoration will be available during the STA period. Adoration builds that relationship with Jesus. Each one of us is part of the Body of Christ. It only makes sense that if we develop our relationship with Jesus, we will build relationships with others. We learn to focus on others as we grow our awareness of something bigger than ourselves.
We hope to see you at the Homecoming Tailgate at the end of the month.
Remember, Love Conquers All!
