WHAT is the PreACT?
The PreACT simulates the ACT testing experience within a shorter test window on all four ACT test subjects: English, math, reading and science. Results provide both current achievement and projected future official ACT test scores on the familiar 1-36 ACT score scale. There is no test preparation or studying needed for the PreACT.

The PSAT in October is a different test from a rival organization and it attempts to measure reading, writing and math skills. The PSAT is a practice test for the SAT, and for juniors it is a qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship Program. All juniors must take the PSAT in October. It is optional for freshmen and sophomores.

WHERE is the PreACT?
Saint Thomas Aquinas. To mimic the actual ACT experience, students will check in at a table in the commons to receive a post-it note that tells them their room assignment.
If your student carpools with a senior, you will need to make alternative transportation arrangements. Seniors have the day off. Juniors will be attending a College Planning Workshop that starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at noon.

WHAT Should Students Bring:
Bring two #2 pencils (non-mechanical) & an ACT-approved calculator.
Standard school uniform rules apply. Since this will be a spring morning with lots of sitting and concentrating, I recommend layering with a uniform pullover or sweater.

WHAT if my student misses the test?
It will count the same as missing a full day of school (an A schedule). We will not be proctoring a make-up session if your student misses the test. If you would like your student to have PreACT results, you can contact a tutoring business to see if they will proctor a PreACT exam. Some will do this for free in hopes of gaining your ongoing business.

WHO do I contact with questions?
PreACT questions should go to Test coordinator Chris Berger (cberger@stasaints.net).
College Workshop questions should go to Director of College Placement Janey Stephens (jstephens@stasaints.net)
