Saint Thomas Aquinas Theatre Department provides opportunities for students to develop strong skills in collaboration, communication, and creative interpretation and expression through theatre classes, as well as opportunities to participate in our annual theatre productions.

Course Options
Advanced Drama
Advanced Drama provides students the chance to explore many scripts differing in style, genre, and time period. Students in grades 10-12 who have taken Introduction to Theatre or Acting I may take Advanced Drama for a 1/2 credit. This class participates in several in-class and public performances.
Stage Craft
Stagecraft provides students an opportunity to design and build sets for all Saint Thomas Aquinas productions. Students in grades 9-12 may elect to take Stage Craft for 1 credit. Students in grades 10-12 who have taken Stagecraft may take Advanced Stagecraft for 1 credit.
Advanced Stagecraft give students more opportunities than just design and build sets. Students set up and run sound and lighting plots, and are responsible for all performance needs of the drama and music departments. Students will need to be available for outside of school day rehearsals and performances. Students may be called upon to assist others in the use of the theater or other performance facilities when needed.

In The Spotlight
The Advanced Drama class had a very special opportunity to visit the Kansas City Repertory Theater Copaken Stage on Tuesday, February 25. While there, they viewed a play written by Saint Thomas Aquinas parent, the late Nathan Lois Jackson whose daughter, Amaya is a senior at Aquinas.
