Christmas Show

A Charlie Brown Christmas

In the classic 1965 animated television special, A Charlie Brown Christmas, a depressed Charlie Brown feels overwhelmed by the seasonal commercialism. Seeking purpose, he agrees to direct the neighborhood Christmas play, but struggles to manage his chaotic friends before discovering the holiday's true meaning.

Winter Play

Little Women

Based on Louisa May Alcott's American classic, this Civil War story of love and family stands the test of time. The play follows the four March sisters - the fiery writer Jo, traditional Meg, gentle Beth, and romantic Amy - as they grow up in Concord, Massachusetts, while their father serves as a Union Army chaplain during the Civil War.

Course Options

Introduction to Theater

Introduction to Theater offers students hands-on experience, in actively contributing to the production of the school musicals and plays, assisting with costumes, props, scenery, and publicity. In addition, students will explore various aspects of theatre, including acting, directing, playwriting, and video creation. Designed as an orientation to the dramatic arts, this course allows students to discover and develop their interests in different areas of theatre.

Acting I

Acting I engages students in acting exercises, theatre games, and in-class performances. Students will develop the skills necessary to create fully realized, believable characters. The course also includes a focus on acting for the camera. Students will study notable actors and scripts, create original comedies and dramas, and perform duet and solo scenes. Additional topics include improvisational comedy, pantomime, and audition techniques.

Advanced Drama

Advanced Drama provides students the chance to explore many scripts differing in style, genre, and time period.  Students in grades 10-12 who have taken Introduction to Theatre or Acting I may take Advanced Drama for a 1/2 credit. This class participates in several in-class and public performances.

Stage Craft

Stagecraft provides students an opportunity to design and build sets for all Saint Thomas Aquinas productions. Students in grades 9-12 may elect to take Stage Craft for 1 credit. Students in grades 10-12 who have taken Stagecraft may take Advanced Stagecraft for 1 credit.

Advanced Stagecraft

Advanced Stagecraft give students more opportunities than just design and build sets. Students set up and run sound and lighting plots, and are responsible for all performance needs of the drama and music departments. Students will need to be available for outside of school day rehearsals and performances. Students may be called upon to assist others in the use of the theater or other performance facilities when needed.
