Some Voices will Never Get the Chance to be Heard

Some voices are never heard. And then there are those that will never get the chance to be heard. But I have a voice. As I started my senior year I knew I wanted to make the most of it, and that included using my voice to speak up about things that truly matter to me and doing things I felt called to do. When I got the opportunity to attend the March for Life trip in Washington D.C. I jumped at the chance. I knew that was my calling - my chance to speak for the unborn.

My expectations for the March were simple, make memories, have fun, and experience something new. Now as I'm home, I realized that the trip to D.C. meant way more to me. On the trip I got to tour D.C. and learn about our nation's capital and history. Most impactful was the visit to the Holocaust Museum which opened my eyes to the importance of remembering the past. I also experienced the Washington Monument Tour and explored history itself. But the most powerful moment of the trip was the March itself.

I stood up for my beliefs and took action. That feeling is a feeling I will never forget, and a feeling I will cherish forever.

At the March for Life, my classmates and I stood among thousands of people gathered together in support of one common belief, “Every life matters”. It was there that I was able to grow closer to my Saint Thomas Aquinas classmates and create new friendships all because we stood up for something that truly matters to us.

When I arrived home, I was overwhelmed with an indescribable feeling—one that comes from standing up for something I deeply believe in. I want to thank God for giving me this amazing experience and bringing me to Aquinas for this opportunity. Without the people around me and in my life, none of this would have been possible.

For underclassmen debating on going on the D.C. March for Life next year, I strongly encourage you to seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in something meaningful, like marching for life. Remember you have a voice, and you have the chance to speak up and take a stand for LIFE.
